Youth Arrested After Minor Girl Consumes Phenyl at Gopalpur Police Station
Victim in Stable Condition as Police Probe Incident
Bhubaneswar : A youth was arrested after his minor female friend allegedly consumed phenyl inside the Gopalpur police station, following a complaint lodged by the girl’s mother accusing him of kidnapping and sexual assault. The accused was later produced before a local court.
According to reports, the girl and the youth had visited Gopalpur sea beach around 11 am on Monday and later sought a rented room from a local resident for two hours. When the request was denied, they went to the Gopalpur police station to lodge a complaint.
Being a minor, the police immediately informed her family. Upon her father’s arrival at the station, the girl reportedly panicked and consumed phenyl in distress. She was rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in critical condition.
Authorities stated that the girl’s health has now stabilised, and she remains under observation by a two-member medical team. Police have launched a detailed inquiry into the circumstances that led to this extreme action inside the station premises.
The incident has raised concerns over minor safety and protocols followed at police stations when dealing with juvenile victims.
