Shree Jagannath Temple Opens Dedicated Breastfeeding Room for Mothers
New Facility Ensures Privacy and Comfort for Lactating Mothers Visiting Srimandir

Bhubaneswar : In a progressive initiative, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) inaugurated its dedicated breastfeeding room for lactating mothers visiting the Srimandir on Monday. The move aims to provide a comfortable and private space for mothers attending the temple.
The Chief Administrator of SJTA, Arabinda Padhee, had announced the launch of the facility on August 24. The newly established room is air-conditioned, spacious enough to accommodate four mothers, and includes a comfortable seating area. Privacy measures have been strictly maintained to ensure a safe and relaxing environment.
Two female temple staff members have been assigned to assist mothers using the facility.
The initiative aligns with the broader vision expressed by Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida during World Breastfeeding Week on August 7. She highlighted the importance of setting up breastfeeding centers in public places across Odisha, including shopping malls, bus stands, and railway stations. These centers will be equipped with seating, drinking water, and guidance from women staff to encourage and support lactating mothers.
The SJTA’s new facility is being welcomed as a major step toward making public spaces more mother- and child-friendly, reflecting a commitment to women’s welfare and child care.
