Bhubaneswar lawyer dies by self-immolation on rooftop
Police probe underway into tragic incident in Pandara

Bhubaneswar : A 46-year-old lawyer, identified as Deepak Sahu, allegedly died by self-immolation after setting himself on fire atop his four-storey house in Pandara under Mancheswar police limits late Thursday night. His half-burnt body was recovered from the rooftop and sent to Capital Hospital for post-mortem.
Reports said Deepak, who lived with his wife, two children, and mother, had been undergoing treatment for mental illness. The exact reason behind the drastic step remains unclear.
The incident occurred around 10 pm after his wife asked him to join for dinner. Instead, he went to the rooftop, saying he felt hot. When he did not return, his wife found the door locked and noticed smoke. Neighbours rushed after hearing her cries, but Deepak was already engulfed in flames.
Two teams from Mancheswar police reached the spot and have launched an investigation into the incident.
