Bhubaneswar, 17 May: Former U.S. President Donald Trump is not happy with Apple’s plan to build most of its iPhones in India. He recently spoke to Apple CEO Tim Cook and asked him to bring iPhone production back to the United States.

Apple has been shifting more iPhone manufacturing to India in recent years. The company now plans to make most iPhones for the U.S. market in India by June. This move helps Apple reduce risks from trade tensions and tariffs and diversify its supply chain.

However, experts say making iPhones in the U.S. would be very difficult and expensive. If Apple moved its factories to the U.S., the cost of an iPhone could rise to about $3,500—much more than the current prices of $799 or $999 for the latest models.

Even with Trump’s criticism, Apple is continuing to grow its factories in India. It started assembling iPhones there in 2017 and has increased its production each year.

Apple’s decision is part of a bigger trend. Many tech companies are choosing to manufacture in multiple countries to avoid problems caused by global politics and rising costs.

While some politicians want more products made in the U.S., companies like Apple must consider cost, infrastructure, and supply chain needs before making such big changes. Apple's plans in India show how complex and global today's tech manufacturing has become.
