Journalist Attacked in Nabarangpur

Bhubaneswar : A journalist was critically injured after being attacked by a youth in Papadahandi village of Nabarangpur district.

The victim, identified as Sumit Kumar Ghanta, was first treated at the Papadahandi Community Health Centre (CHC) and later shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), Nabarangpur. As his condition worsened, he was referred to a hospital in Visakhapatnam for advanced medical care.

According to reports, Harekrushna Behera of Banka Sahi allegedly attacked Ghanta with a knife during an altercation around 11 pm while the journalist was returning home. Behera was said to be in an inebriated state at the time.

Ghanta suffered serious injuries on his stomach, chest, and hands. Locals overpowered Behera and handed him over to the police after assaulting him. He is currently undergoing treatment at Nabarangpur DHH.
