Drunk Man Kills Elderly Parents with Hammer in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj
Accused auto driver Himanshu Sahu arrested after villagers found mother’s body outside house
Bhubaneswar : In a horrifying incident that has shocked Mayurbhanj district, a man allegedly bludgeoned his elderly parents to death with a hammer while under the influence of alcohol. The crime took place in Dhanapal village under Baisinga police limits on Monday morning.
The accused, identified as Himanshu Sahu, a local auto-rickshaw driver, lived with his 85-year-old father Hadibandhu Sahu and 78-year-old mother Shantilata Sahu. Due to family disputes, Himanshu’s wife and children had been living separately for some time.
Locals were alarmed when they discovered Shantilata’s blood-soaked body lying outside the house. Himanshu was found sitting calmly on a cot nearby, arousing suspicion. The villagers immediately alerted the police.
Police reached the spot, detained Himanshu, and launched an investigation. Initial findings suggest he attacked his parents in a drunken rage, repeatedly striking them with a hammer, leading to their death.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and the weapon has been recovered. The brutal double murder has sent shockwaves through the village, leaving residents stunned and grieving.
