Ganjam Horror: Mother Killed, Minor Girl Injured in Brutal Assault
Police suspect involvement of victim’s former male friend
Bhubaneswar : A brutal sword attack left a woman dead and her 11-year-old daughter critically injured at Sri Maa Nagar’s 2nd Line under Nimakhandi Police Station limits in Berhampur, Ganjam district.
The deceased has been identified as Gayatri Swain. Reports indicate that Gayatri’s husband works in Bhubaneswar, and the mother-daughter duo had arrived in Berhampur on August 3. The assailant, yet to be identified, allegedly attacked them inside their home before locking the main door from outside.
While Gayatri died on the spot, her daughter was rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in critical condition. Police revealed that Gayatri’s husband had earlier lodged a missing complaint and suspects her former male friend’s involvement in the murder.
A police and scientific team, along with Berhampur SP, have begun an investigation into the case.
