Puri Police Arrest 12 Fake Gumastas at Srimandir
Action taken to protect devotees from fraud and ensure temple discipline

Bhubaneswar : Puri police have arrested 12 fake gumastas posing as authorised assistants in the Shree Jagannath Temple. The arrests were made by Singhdwar and Town police under Section 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. All accused were produced in court and sent to jail after bail rejection.
Police said the fraudsters lacked identity documents and were deceiving devotees, leading to repeated complaints. The crackdown aims to protect pilgrims from harassment and fraud.
Meanwhile, in a recent Srimandir administrative meeting, officials decided to fix a price list for Abadha Mahaprasad in Anand Bazaar, create separate shops for dry offerings and Mahaprasad, and enforce a dress code and ID cards for assistants. Strict action will be taken against misuse of ghee and disorderly conduct, ensuring temple traditions and order are maintained.
