Jajpur Court Sentences Man to Life for Patricide
32-year-old convicted for killing father after 2020 domestic dispute
Bhubaneswar : A Jajpur court sentenced a 32-year-old man to life imprisonment for murdering his father five years ago.
District and Sessions Judge Amrut Ranjan Nanda convicted Gurucharan Behera of Bachhala village under Bari police limits. Along with the life term, the court imposed a fine of Rs 20,000. In case of default, Behera will serve an additional six months in prison.
Public Prosecutor Samarendra Das said the judgment was delivered after the court examined 17 witnesses and 18 documents related to the case. The evidence proved Behera’s guilt beyond reasonable doubt.
The incident dates back to the night of September 29, 2020, when Behera killed his father following a domestic altercation. His elder brother, also the deceased’s son, lodged a police complaint the next day, leading to Behera’s arrest.
