Sundargarh POCSO Court Sentences Man to 20 Years for Raping Minor Girl
Court also imposes ₹20,000 fine; orders ₹7 lakh compensation to victim’s family
Bhubaneswar : A Special POCSO Court in Sundargarh has sentenced Kuna Pradhan to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a nine-year-old girl in the Hemagiri area in February 2023.
In addition to the jail term, the court has imposed a fine of ₹20,000 on Pradhan. If he fails to pay the fine, he will have to undergo an additional year of imprisonment.
The court also directed the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) to provide an ex-gratia compensation of ₹7 lakh to the victim’s family to support their rehabilitation and recovery.
