Odisha to Launch ‘Rah-Veer’ Scheme: ₹25,000 Reward for Saving Road Accident Victims
Dedicated district panels to identify and honour Good Samaritans who help victims within the golden hour

Bhubaneswar : The Odisha government is set to roll out a new initiative named ‘Rah-Veer’, aimed at honouring Good Samaritans who rush road accident victims to hospitals within the crucial golden hour. As per reports, the reward under the scheme will be raised from the current ₹2,000 to ₹25,000.
This initiative aligns with the Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety's guidelines for reducing accident fatalities. To implement the plan, the state has formed District Road Safety Committees (DRSC) in all districts. A sub-committee under each DRSC, led by the district collector and comprising the SP, CDMO, and RTO (who will also serve as convenor), will select the Rah-Veers.
Nominations will be reviewed monthly based on police and hospital reports. Selected names will be published on the e-DAR platform, with rewards transferred within seven days. Collectors are also tasked with running awareness drives to promote public involvement in lifesaving actions.
