IMD Issues Yellow Weather Warning for Odisha
Heavy Rainfall, Thunderstorms, and Gusty Winds Predicted Till September 4

Bhubaneswar : The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded multiple yellow warnings for Odisha, forecasting thunderstorms with lightning, gusty surface winds, and heavy rainfall over the next few days.
According to IMD’s mid-day weather bulletin, the monsoon trough is currently passing through Bikaner, Kota, Seoni, Durg, Bhawanipatna, and Gopalpur, extending into the Bay of Bengal. This system is likely to intensify weather activity across the state.
On August 31, thunderstorms with lightning and surface winds of 30–40 km/h are expected in districts including Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
On September 1, heavy rainfall is likely in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri, Koraput, and Rayagada, while thunderstorms may affect several coastal and interior districts.
Similarly, on September 2, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, and Nabarangpur are likely to witness heavy showers with gusty winds.
The IMD has further extended yellow warnings till September 4, urging residents in vulnerable districts to remain cautious against lightning strikes, localized flooding, and strong winds.
