Victim Sustains 40% Burns; Police Launch Investigation into Shocking Case of Domestic Violence

Bhubaneswar : In a disturbing incident of dowry-related violence, a young woman named Arati was allegedly set on fire by her mother-in-law and brother-in-law in Kahneipura village under Khallikote police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district.
The victim, married to Akash Parida for two years, had reportedly faced ongoing torture over dowry demands. After a heated altercation last night, her in-laws allegedly doused her with petrol and set her ablaze. Arati was rushed to Khallikote Hospital in a half-burnt condition and later referred to MKCG Medical College, Berhampur, with 40% burn injuries. Police have begun an investigation.
