Tragedy Strikes on Ganesh Chaturthi in Balasore

Bhubaneswar : Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations turned tragic for a family in Dunda village under Basta police limits after a two-year-old girl went missing, reportedly after slipping into a river.

As per reports, Papu Soren, his wife, and their daughter had gone to his sister’s house to celebrate Ganesh Puja. The toddler was playing outside when she wandered towards the nearby river. While playing near the slippery bank, she is suspected to have slipped into the water unnoticed by family members.

After hours of frantic searching, relatives spotted her slipper near the riverbank, raising fears of drowning. They immediately alerted the police and fire brigade, who launched a rescue operation.

However, despite continuous efforts, the child remains untraced till the latest reports. The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the festive occasion in the village.
