Odisha to Launch ‘Mukhyamantri Bus Seva’ in Kotia to Boost Connectivity

Bhubaneswar : The Odisha government is set to introduce the Mukhyamantri Bus Seva in the disputed Kotia region of Koraput district to strengthen transport infrastructure and improve accessibility for residents, Transport and Mines Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena announced today.

Speaking to the media, Jena described Kotia as an “inseparable and integral part of Odisha,” reiterating the state government’s firm stand despite Andhra Pradesh’s repeated territorial claims—particularly around elections.

“The state is committed to the holistic development of Kotia. The new bus service under the Transport Department will ensure improved mobility for local people and further reinforce Odisha’s presence in the area,” Jena said.

Highlighting the region's resource potential, he revealed that Kotia is rich in minerals. “One of its hills is even called the ‘Golden Hill’ due to its mineral wealth,” Jena added, noting that the Mines Department is also working to explore and responsibly utilize these natural resources.

The initiative reflects Odisha’s broader strategy to assert administrative and developmental control in the region while also delivering essential services to its people.
