Odisha Clears Rs 1.51 Lakh Crore Investment Boosting Industrial Expansion
Eight Mega Projects Across Six Districts to Create Over 62,000 Jobs

Bhubaneswar : The Odisha government has approved eight major industrial projects worth Rs 1.51 lakh crore, expected to generate over 62,000 job opportunities across six districts. The decision came during a High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
Leading the approvals is Vedanta Limited’s proposal to set up a Rs 1.28 lakh crore aluminium smelter and 4,900 MW captive power plant in Dhenkanal, creating 30,000 jobs. SRF Limited will invest Rs 10,000 crore in a speciality chemicals and refrigerants unit in Ganjam, generating 20,000 jobs.
Other key projects include a speciality steel unit by Jindal India Steel Tech in Dhenkanal, an integrated steel plant by Shyam Steel in Keonjhar, and an Air Separation Unit by Linde India in Jajpur. Additional projects are planned in Sambalpur, Keonjhar, and Khurda in sectors like metal processing and textiles.
Since June 2023, the state has approved 62 projects worth Rs 5.67 lakh crore, targeting the creation of 2.42 lakh jobs. CM Majhi said the move aligns with Odisha’s vision of "Samruddha Odisha by 2036" and contributes to the national goal of "Viksit Bharat by 2047."
