Roadmap Prepared to Make Jharsuguda the No. 1 District in the Country
G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant’s Review Meeting Focuses on Industry, Education, Health, and Environment

Bhubaneswar: Jharsuguda’s contribution to the country’s development is becoming increasingly significant. Rich in industries and mining, the district is now being targeted to become the top district in the country through a structured roadmap. As part of this initiative, G20 Sherpa and former CEO of NITI Aayog, Amitabh Kant, held a key review meeting at the Jharsuguda Collector’s office and put forward several important proposals and suggestions.
As per the direction of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Amitabh Kant visited Jharsuguda and participated in the review meeting. The discussions focused on setting up industrial training institutes, enhancing skill development, improving health services and education, controlling fly ash pollution, implementing a “Green City” plan, and expediting projects like railways and national highways.
Amitabh Kant stated that he would present his report in Delhi. He mentioned that a clear vision has been set so that by the centenary of Odisha’s formation in 2036, Jharsuguda would be recognized as the No. 1 district in the country.
The meeting was attended by Jharsuguda MLA Tankadhar Tripathy, Collector Aboli Sunil Narawane, SP Smita P. Parmar, and other district-level officers. MLA Tripathy expressed gratitude to Minister Pradhan for sending an experienced expert like Kant to the district.
The meeting also emphasized preparing an annual action plan on CSR investments. Kant advised hosting job fairs, taking measures to combat anemia, filling vacant doctor posts, and working towards transforming Jharsuguda into a green city.
This strategic meeting is expected to steer Jharsuguda’s development journey in a new and impactful direction.
