‘Paluo Ladoo’ to Be a Must in All Official Meetings
Strict Directive from Bhadrak District Collector to Promote Traditional Heritage and Seek GI Tag

Bhubaneswar: In a unique initiative to preserve and promote local heritage, all government programs, meetings, and events in Bhadrak district will now include the traditional sweet “Paluo Ladoo” as part of the refreshments. District Collector Dilip Routray issued this directive to all government officials on Monday.
A letter (No. 332) from the Collector’s office was sent to Additional District Collectors, Zilla Parishad, Sub-Collectors, Tahsildars, BDOs, Executive Officers, and all other district-level offices, informing them of the directive.
“Paluo Ladoo” is a popular and flavorful sweet known across households in Bhadrak district. The district administration has been working to obtain the Geographical Indication (GI) tag for this traditional delicacy. The Collector stated that this step is aimed at giving due recognition to Paluo Ladoo as a symbol of Bhadrak’s culinary tradition.
Speaking about the initiative, District Collector Routray said, “Paluo Ladoo is distinct from other sweets due to its unique traditional taste. By promoting it at official events, we aim to boost the local brand, support self-reliance, and preserve the cultural identity of the district.”
This decision is expected to not only popularize Paluo Ladoo but also contribute to the local economy by encouraging small-scale sweet makers and local businesses.
