Mother Sells 7-Year-Old Son for Rs 18,000 in Jajpur
Distressed father seeks government help as investigation into shocking child sale unfolds
Bhubaneswar : In a disturbing incident from Jajpur district, Odisha, a woman allegedly sold her seven-year-old son for Rs 18,000. The case surfaced in Totasahi village under Badasuar panchayat after the boy’s father, Prasant Parida, approached the district administration for help.
Prasant and his wife Puja had marital issues, leading Puja to leave with their younger son four years ago. She returned recently but without the seven-year-old child, Sairam. When questioned, Puja shockingly admitted to selling the boy for Rs 18,000.
Prasant revealed that Puja had left after a violent fight, taking Rs 17,000 and destroying her phone to cut off communication. After returning, she confessed to the sale but has since gone missing. Prasant, who works washing dishes, is now desperate for his son’s return.
The district Collector, P. Anvesha Reddy, has ordered an inquiry led by the ADM. The District Child Protection Unit has been tasked with investigating the child’s whereabouts and verifying the allegations. Authorities are working swiftly to resolve the case and ensure the child’s safety.
