Forest Guard Killed in Poachers’ Firing
Shot During Patrol, Declared Dead at Angul Hospital
Bhubaneswar: A tragic incident occurred in the Kai Reserve Forest under Hindol Range when forest guard Prahlad Pradhan (37) was shot by poachers while on patrol duty. Though he was immediately rushed to Angul District Headquarters Hospital in critical condition, doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Following the incident, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi expressed deep sorrow and extended condolences to the bereaved family. He also announced an ex-gratia assistance of 30 lakh to the family. Additionally, he directed the PCCF (Principal Chief Conservator of Forests) to visit the spot and conduct a thorough investigation.
A total of 13 forest personnel were on patrol when the poachers opened fire. While four of the poachers were apprehended on the spot, others managed to flee. Firearms have been seized from those caught, and an investigation is underway to identify and arrest the remaining culprits involved in the attack.
