Odisha Police Demolish Drug Peddler’s House in Bhubaneswar
‘Operation Prahar’ Targets Repeat Offenders to Make City Drug-Free

Bhubaneswar : In a fresh crackdown on drug trafficking, Odisha Police on Tuesday demolished the house of a repeat offender in Bhubaneswar’s Nayapalli area under its ongoing anti-drug initiative, *Operation Prahar*.
The demolished house, located near ID Market, belonged to Sabitri Behera, who has been repeatedly arrested for dealing in brown sugar, ganja, and ganja-laced cigarettes. Police confirmed that Behera has faced arrest at least three times in connection with narcotics trade.
“Narcotics dealing in this area has been a long-standing problem. Sabitri Behera was arrested again on September 2 for continuing the illegal trade. Following *Operation Prahar* guidelines, her house was demolished today with assistance from the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation,” said Satyaranjan Pradhan, Inspector-in-Charge of Nayapalli Police Station.
As per the new enforcement mechanism, any drug peddler arrested three or more times will face demolition of their illegal properties. Officials said this strict action is aimed at sending a strong message to repeat offenders.
Police further revealed that a list of other drug peddlers across Bhubaneswar has already been prepared, and similar actions will be initiated soon. “We will take tough measures against all those engaged in the drug trade. Such activities will not be tolerated in the capital city,” Pradhan asserted.
The demolition is part of a broader mission under *Operation Prahar* to curb narcotics networks and transform Bhubaneswar into a drug-free city, with coordinated efforts between the police and civic authorities.
