Elephant Found Dead in Angul Forest, Cause of Death Under Investigation
No signs of external injury; Forest officials rule out poaching, await autopsy results

Bhubaneswar : A middle-aged female elephant was discovered dead near Saharagoda under the Angul forest range in Odisha on Saturday morning, raising concerns among locals and forest officials alike.
The carcass was first spotted by nearby villagers in the Budbudia forest, prompting them to alert the Forest Department. A team of forest officials promptly arrived at the scene and launched a preliminary inquiry.
Officials confirmed there were no visible external injuries on the elephant’s body, leading them to rule out poaching as a cause of death. However, the exact cause remains unknown.
A medical team and the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) are on their way to conduct a post-mortem examination to determine the reason for the elephant’s death. Further investigation is underway to uncover any environmental or health-related factors that may have contributed to the incident.
