Timely Action by NDRF, Electricians Averts Major Mishap in Cuttack
Fault in 400 kV transmission line over Mahanadi could have caused power outage, electrocution risk

Bhubaneswar : A major mishap was averted in Cuttack after a fault in an insulator caused a 400 kV overhead transmission line to sag over the Mahanadi River near Mundali. Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) officials detected the fault but couldn’t act due to nightfall and strong river currents. They sought help from the NDRF, which rushed to the site early Friday. Led by Deputy Commandant Pravin Chauhan, the NDRF transported electricians via three powerboats to fix the issue. The line, which supplies electricity to Bhubaneswar from Baripada and Duburi circuits, could have led to a major power outage and electrocution hazard. Thanks to the quick, brave action of the NDRF and electricians, the threat was neutralized in time.
