Drug Raids Conducted on Medicine Stores in Cuttack's Ranihat

Bhubaneswar : The Drugs Control Department conducted raids on several medicine stores in the Ranihat area of Cuttack on Tuesday. Teams from the department inspected multiple pharmacies in the Ranihat market, focusing on the stock of MTP (Medical Termination of Pregnancy) kits and abortion pills being sold.

The department's action follows reports of widespread illegal sales of these kits and medications without proper prescriptions in certain stores. Selling MTP kits and abortion pills without a prescription is against the law. The Drugs Control Department initiated the surprise inspections after receiving information about the unauthorized sales.

There are allegations that the illegal sale of these medications contributes to the unlawful identification of the sex of a fetus and subsequent abortions.

On Monday, similar raids were carried out on several medicine stores in Bhubaneswar. Notices have been issued to these shops as part of the ongoing investigation. The Drugs Control Department is taking strict action to curb the illegal sale of abortion-related medications and ensure compliance with regulations.
