Stresses on Festival’s Cultural Significance and Unity
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, in a heartfelt video message, greeted people on the occasion of Nuakhai, wishing them happiness, peace, and prosperity.
“Jay Jagannath, Jay Maa Samalei. Nuakhai reflects our rich culture, prosperity, and unity. I pray this festival fills everyone’s life with joy and peace,” the CM said.
Highlighting the tradition of *Nuakhai Bhetghat*, Majhi said the festival holds special importance as families reunite, strengthening cultural and emotional bonds. “On Nuakhai, people return home from far and wide to celebrate with their loved ones. This unique tradition showcases the festival’s significance,” he added.
Nuakhai, primarily celebrated in Western Odisha, marks the new rice harvest and is observed on the *panchami tithi* of Bhadrapada, a day after Ganesh Chaturthi.
