Landslide Disrupts Train Services on Koraput-Kirandul Route
Heavy rainfall causes major delays and cancellations
Bhubaneswar : Train movement on the Koraput-Kirandul line was severely affected on Friday after a landslide near Jarati station blocked the tracks around 3 PM. Triggered by relentless rain, the landslide occurred just before a scheduled train’s arrival, narrowly avoiding a disaster.
Railway authorities launched immediate clearance operations. Two trains—Jagdalpur-Bhubaneswar Hirakhand Express (18448) and Kirandul-Visakhapatnam Night Express (18516)—were cancelled, while others, including Rourkela Express and Visakhapatnam-Kirandul trains, faced delays.
Restoration work is underway as officials monitor the situation amid continued rain in the region.
