Odisha Approves IT Policy 2025 to Drive Digital Transformation

Bhubaneswar : In a major step towards digital transformation, the Odisha State Cabinet has approved the Odisha IT Policy 2025, aimed at positioning the state as a leading hub for innovation and IT-enabled services.

The policy emphasizes the integration of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, IoT, and data analytics into governance and public services, while also building a digitally inclusive society. It sets an ambitious goal of creating 1 million direct and indirect jobs in the IT and IT-enabled services sector.

Key features include the development of world-class infrastructure—IT Parks, IT Towers, Special Economic Zones, and co-working spaces—alongside incentives like capital subsidies, SGST reimbursements, rental support, utility charge exemptions, and assistance for patents, skill development, and startups. Special incentives are tailored for large and mega IT investments.

Emerging fields such as cybersecurity, 5G, AR/VR, deep learning, machine learning, and blockchain have been prioritized for promotion. The policy will be implemented under the guidance of a Policy Advocacy & Vision Group, with the Odisha Computer Applications Centre as the nodal agency.

Officials said the move will attract global businesses, foster innovation, and establish Odisha as a premier hub for IT and knowledge-driven industries.
