Widowed Daughters to Be Included in the CM Kanya Vivah Scheme
New Provision Announced by Chief Minister

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday reviewed the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana at Lok Seva Bhawan and announced the inclusion of widowed daughters under the scheme. The initiative aims to reduce the financial burden of marriage on poor parents.
During the review meeting, the Chief Minister also emphasized organizing the weddings at a community level, providing gifts to the brides, and starting the scheme as early as possible. He instructed officials to ensure timely implementation.
The meeting also reviewed the ongoing “Ame Padhiba Ama Bhasare” programme being implemented in Anganwadi centers. In 15 districts of the state, children are being taught in 17 native languages at the foundational level, which the Chief Minister said would boost their confidence.
Odisha is the first state in the country to implement mother-tongue-based pre-primary education at Anganwadi centers, aligned with the goals of the National Education Policy 2020.
Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Development Commissioner Anu Garg, Principal Secretary of Women and Child Development Department Shubha Sharma, and other senior officials were present at the meeting.
