Odisha govt pushes AI adoption across departments
One AI tool to be procured by each department to boost efficiency and governance

Bhubaneswar : The Odisha government has directed all its departments to adopt Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology as part of ongoing administrative reforms aimed at modernising governance in the state.
According to an office order issued by the General Administration and Public Grievance Department, every department has been authorised to procure one AI tool, a basic version above the free model, to support daily functioning and build the capacity of officers and staff.
The initiative, officials said, is designed to integrate AI into routine government operations, thereby streamlining workflows, enhancing data-driven decision-making, and strengthening the ability of government employees to deal with emerging administrative challenges. Training and usage of AI-enabled platforms are expected to make officials more efficient in service delivery.
The order further highlighted the transformative role AI can play in improving transparency and efficiency in public administration. By introducing such tools, the state seeks to strengthen its commitment to good governance and ensure Odisha remains ahead in adopting modern technology for citizen-centric services.
However, departments have been strictly cautioned not to upload any secret or confidential documents on external AI platforms while using the tools.
