Odisha Aims for ₹2.52 Lakh Crore Credit Boost in FY 2025–26

Bhubaneswar: Odisha has set an ambitious credit target of ₹2.52 lakh crore for the financial year 2025–26, aiming to drive inclusive economic growth across the state. The announcement was made during the 179th State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) meeting held in Bhubaneswar.

Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg urged banks to ensure equitable credit disbursement, particularly for women, SC/ST communities, and other marginalized groups. She emphasized this as vital to achieving the state's Vision 2036 goals.

A special focus was laid on the newly launched Financial Assistance to Cold Storage scheme, which spans all 58 sub-divisions. The initiative aims to reduce post-harvest losses and prevent distress sales among farmers.

While UCO Bank’s Executive Director VN Kamble applauded 100% achievement in agricultural lending, he pointed to underperformance in MSME credit and called for immediate improvement.

Officials, including Principal Secretaries from Agriculture, Finance, and Commerce, stressed faster insurance settlements and greater involvement of private banks in government schemes like PMEGP and PMSVANidhi.

RBI’s Regional Director appreciated local efforts in resolving MSME grievances through grassroots outreach. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to financial literacy and sectoral credit expansion.
