New Air Link Boosts Odisha’s Global Reach
Bhubaneswar-Abu Dhabi Direct Flights from June 12; Fourth International Connection for State

Bhubaneswar:
In a major push to Odisha’s global connectivity, Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar will launch direct flights to Abu Dhabi starting June 12. This will be Odisha’s fourth international air route, following successful launches to Dubai, Singapore, and Bangkok.
The new service is expected to operate weekly, with one-way economy fares beginning around rs.12,000. Officials anticipate high demand due to the strong Odia diaspora presence in the Gulf and Abu Dhabi’s role as a global travel hub.
The route follows the success of the Bhubaneswar-Dubai flight introduced in May 2023, which has consistently reported full bookings. With growing air traffic, the Abu Dhabi connection aims to further boost business, tourism, and cultural ties with the Middle East.
Simultaneously, Bhubaneswar has expanded domestic connectivity, now linking to 28 Indian cities including new routes to Ghaziabad (Hindon), Port Blair, and Goa. The airport recorded a 26.9% rise in passenger traffic in 2024 and is on track to surpass 5 million flyers annually by 2025.
Odisha’s aviation growth is not limited to Bhubaneswar. A daily Mumbai-Jharsuguda flight launched in March 2025 has improved western Odisha’s access to metro cities. Meanwhile, the holy city of Puri has received in-principle approval for a Greenfield airport, poised to become a major religious tourism hub.
With expanding international and domestic networks, Odisha is rapidly emerging as a key player on India’s aviation map.
