Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi Reviews Near-Completion of Kalinga Studio Renovation

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi visited Kalinga Studio in Bhubaneswar on Sunday to inspect the progress of its ongoing renovation, which is now in the final stages. He announced that about 90-95% of the extensive upgrade work has been completed since the project began in 2021-22.

Speaking to the media, CM Majhi recalled that members of the Cine Arts Association had recently requested him to visit the studio. He confirmed that the studio has been modernised according to industry standards and highlighted the association’s demand for additional infrastructure — including a police station, village set, hospital, temple, and court — to develop Kalinga Studio into a comprehensive film city.

“I have instructed the concerned departments to prepare a new Detailed Project Report (DPR) to incorporate these facilities. The inauguration of the renovated studio will be held soon, followed by detailed planning for film shoots,” said the CM.

The Odisha Small Industries Corporation (OSIC) submitted renovation estimates of Rs 2.13 crore. Renovation work includes repairing the compound wall, upgrading green rooms and cottages, ensuring water supply, fixing transformers, constructing a pump house and overhead tank, refurbishing indoor shooting floors, beautifying gardens, and building sets such as slums and village scenes within the studio premises.

This ambitious project aims to boost Odisha’s film industry by providing state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities for filmmakers.
