Odisha Launches 'Odisha Tex 2025' to Boost Textile Industry and Employment

Bhubaneswar : In a major push to industrial development and job creation, the Odisha government launched ‘Odisha Tex 2025’ at Lok Seva Bhavan, Bhubaneswar. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the conference in the presence of over 300 industry leaders from across the country.

As part of the event, the Chief Minister inaugurated six textile and apparel parks, unlocking fresh investment opportunities. MoUs worth ₹10,000 crore were signed, expected to generate more than 25,000 jobs. In total, 33 MoUs amounting to ₹7,808 crore were finalized, creating a projected 53,000 employment opportunities.

The summit aims to establish Odisha as a national leader in textile and apparel manufacturing. CM Majhi also announced plans for five more textile parks and appealed to government employees to wear Odisha-made clothes once a week and shop locally at least once a year.

To support workers in the industrial sector, the government increased employee incentives—raising benefits for women from ₹6,000 to ₹7,000, and for men from ₹5,000 to ₹6,000.

The event also reviewed progress under the Odisha Excellence 2025 initiative. The foundation stone for 48 projects has been laid, with 58 more under construction. Over the past six months, projects worth ₹1.78 lakh crore have been launched, projected to create more than 1.11 lakh jobs.

‘Odisha Tex’ will now be held annually to showcase the state’s textile potential and attract long-term investments.
