Odisha Boosts Maritime Infrastructure with Major Port and Jetty Projects
CM Majhi announces Rs 16,554 crore investment, over 8,000 jobs to be created

Bhubaneswar : In a major push to maritime commerce, the Odisha Government signed two key concession agreements aimed at developing port infrastructure in the state. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced that JSW Utkal Steel Limited will build a captive jetty at Jatadhara mouth in Jagatsinghpur, with a 52 million metric ton cargo capacity, generating around 3,450 jobs.
Simultaneously, Gopalpur Ports Limited (Adani Ports) will expand Gopalpur port with an investment of Rs 16,554 crore, increasing cargo handling to 50 million metric tons and creating around 5,000 employment opportunities.
At the agreement signing ceremony at Lokseva Bhawan, CM Majhi emphasized the government’s vision to transform Odisha’s maritime economy through private partnerships. Plans are underway to develop new ports at Inchudi and Bahuda and expand existing ones at Subarnarekha and Astaranga.
Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena stressed the importance of ports, jetties, and coastal transport in Odisha’s economic growth. The initiative is expected to strengthen trade infrastructure and bring long-term benefits to the state’s economy and job market. Senior officials and company representatives were present at the signing event.
