Man Beaten to Death, Another Critical in Mob Attack Over Beef in Deogarh

Bhubaneswar : In a shocking case of mob violence, a 35-year-old man was beaten to death and another left critically injured over alleged beef selling in Odisha’s Deogarh district.
The deceased has been identified as Kishor Chamar of Kaunsidhipa village, while the injured victim is Gautam Nayak. According to reports, both were caught in Kendeijuri forest within Reamal police limits when locals from nearby villages confronted them for possessing beef and a cow head.
What began as heckling soon turned into a brutal assault. Kishor was mercilessly thrashed by the mob and succumbed to his injuries on the spot. Gautam, though badly injured, managed to escape.
Sources said Kishor belonged to a family of traditional cattle skinners. Upon receiving information, Reamal police reached the spot, recovered the body, and sent it for postmortem. A scientific team has been deployed to collect evidence, and an investigation has been launched to identify and apprehend those involved.
The incident has sparked tension in the area, with authorities urging restraint and assuring strict action against the culprits.
