CM Majhi Launches ₹550-Crore Development Projects in Ganjam

Bhubaneswar : In a major push for infrastructure and youth empowerment, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday laid foundation stones for development projects worth ₹550 crore in Ganjam district. The announcements were made during the state-level 'Yuva Shakti Samabesh' held in Aska, a vibrant event focused on energizing the state's youth.

The new projects include five irrigation schemes, a road expansion project, a high-level bridge, and several other infrastructure initiatives. The Chief Minister also directed officials to prepare a revised Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the holistic development of the Maa Tara Tarini Temple. Additionally, he announced land allocation at Polasara for a world-class industrial training institute to strengthen technical education in the region.

Addressing thousands of enthusiastic youths, CM Majhi said, “Odisha will be a land of immense opportunities for the youth. A golden era is approaching, and young people will be the architects of our journey to a \$500 billion economy by 2036 and \$1.5 trillion by 2047.”

He praised Ganjam's rich legacy of culture, art, and political leadership and reiterated his government's commitment to inclusive growth and good governance.

Focusing on youth empowerment, Majhi highlighted that Odisha has a productive workforce of 1.7 crore, which is central to the state’s development strategy. Initiatives like the National Education Policy, ‘Nipun Odisha’, and Godabarish Mishra Adarsha Prathamika Vidyalaya are aimed at improving foundational and higher education. To uplift underrepresented communities, the government has introduced 11.25% reservation in higher education.

Skill development also remains a key priority. Industry-aligned training is currently being offered in 58 colleges across the state, and the government is promoting sports as a viable career option through several new programs.

On the industrial front, Majhi spoke about the ‘Utkarsh Odisha’ initiative, which has already drawn investment proposals worth ₹17 lakh crore and promises to generate over 13 lakh jobs. In just 150 days, projects worth ₹1.8 lakh crore have been launched, creating 1.1 lakh jobs. In the past year alone, over 28,000 government posts have been filled.

Encouraging the youth, CM Majhi said, “Recognise your potential, think globally, and strive to be the best. Your success is Odisha’s success.”

The event also paid tribute to public leader Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and saw participation from key state ministers, MPs, MLAs, and senior officials.
