Youth Dies of Suspected Heart Attack During Ganesh Immersion in Rayagada
30-year-old collapses at procession; police launch probe into sudden death
Bhubaneswar : A pall of gloom descended on Rayat Colony in Rayagada Town on Friday evening after a 30-year-old youth, identified as Saroj Kumar Khara, died during the Ganesh idol immersion procession.
According to eyewitnesses, Khara suddenly collapsed while taking part in the immersion festivities, where loud DJ music was being played. Alarmed participants rushed him to the District Headquarters Hospital in Rayagada. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The sudden death shocked fellow residents, many of whom had gathered for the community celebration. The incident cast a shadow over the immersion procession, which came to a halt following the tragedy.
Rayagada Town Police have begun an inquiry to determine the exact cause of death. While a heart attack is suspected, officials said confirmation would come only after medical examination.
The untimely demise of Khara has left the local community devastated, turning a festive evening into one of mourning.
