Shutdown in Kaniha Over Subhadra Murder Case, NTPC Area Comes to a Halt

Bhubaneswar:  shutdown was observed today in Kaniha and the NTPC area led by various social and labor organizations, in protest against the abduction and murder of Subhadra Padila in Talcher. The key demands included arrest of all accused, a CBI investigation into the incident, strict punishment for the culprits, and compensation for Subhadra’s family.

As a result of the bandh, all shops and markets in Kaniha and the NTPC area remained closed. Due to demonstrations held in front of the NTPC main gate by some organizations, workers were unable to enter the plant in the morning. Several government and private institutions in the area were also reportedly closed, and vehicular movement was nearly paralyzed.

Leaders and members of various groups such as the All India Women’s Cultural Organization, AITUC, SUCI, and AIDSO participated in the bandh movement, demanding justice for Subhadra. The protest aimed to bring attention to the incident and call for immediate and strict legal action.
