President Droupadi Murmu Lauds Ravenshaw University's Legacy and Vision at Convocation Ceremony

Bhubaneswar : President Droupadi Murmu today attended the convocation ceremony of Ravenshaw University in Cuttack and commended its long-standing legacy in education, research, and social transformation.

In her keynote address, the President reflected on the institution’s pivotal role during India’s freedom movement and its contribution to Odisha’s formation as a separate state. She said Ravenshaw has consistently nurtured leaders, thinkers, and changemakers — including freedom fighters, scholars, and artists — who have made the nation proud.

Highlighting the university’s growth in research and innovation, President Murmu praised its Centre of Design, Innovation and Entrepreneurship for promoting ideation, startups, and translational research. She applauded the institution’s industry collaborations through consultancy and technology transfer initiatives.

The President also acknowledged the university’s inclusive approach, especially in ensuring educational access for tribal students, underprivileged communities, and persons with disabilities. She underlined that inclusive education is key to a just and equitable society.

Speaking on the evolving landscape of education, President Murmu emphasized the significance of emerging technologies like AI, Machine Learning, 3D Printing, and Cloud Computing. While appreciating their use in higher education, she cautioned against misuse and stressed the importance of ethical implementation.

“As India moves through the Amrit Kaal, our shared mission is to transform it into a developed nation by 2047,” she said. Urging students to embrace a spirit of ‘Nation First’, she encouraged them to take inspiration from soldiers, scientists, doctors, and farmers in contributing to the nation’s progress.

Later, President Murmu laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of three buildings at Ravenshaw Girls' High School, reiterating the need for quality infrastructure and education for girls. She appreciated the efforts of both the Central and State governments in empowering girl students, noting how they often excel when given equal opportunities.

“From education and literature to science and commerce, women are leading across fields today,” she said, encouraging young girls to aim high with confidence, ambition, and determination.
