Odisha Secures Two Semiconductor Units in Bhubaneswar
Projects to boost defence, EV, AI, and industrial manufacturing in India’s first SiC compound fab

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for approving two semiconductor manufacturing units in Odisha’s Info Valley, Bhubaneswar.
The Union Cabinet has cleared a Silicon Carbide (SiC) compound semiconductor facility by SicSem Pvt Ltd in collaboration with UK’s Clas-SiC Wafer Fab Ltd — India’s first commercial SiC fab, with capacity for 60,000 wafers and 96 million packaged units annually. Its products will serve defence, EVs, railways, solar inverters, and more.
Additionally, US-based 3D Glass Solutions Inc. will set up an advanced packaging and embedded glass substrate unit, producing 69,600 glass panel substrates, 50 million assembled units, and 13,200 3DHI modules yearly. These will cater to AI, high-performance computing, RF, and automotive sectors.
Majhi called the move a milestone for industrial growth, job creation, and Odisha’s role in Atmanirbhar Bharat.
