Odisha Assembly’s Monsoon Session Begins on a Solemn Note
House pays homage to former ministers, MLAs and leaders who passed away

Bhubaneswar : The Monsoon Session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly opened on Thursday with tributes to several departed leaders, setting a somber tone on the first day. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi moved a condolence motion, recalling their service and contributions to the state.
Among those remembered were former minister Rajendra Dholakia, former deputy speaker Bibhuti Bhushan Singh Mardaraj, and former MLAs Prasanna Kumar Pattnaik, Karendra Majhi, Niranjan Hembram, Prafulla Kumar Bhanja, and Mohammad Rafiq. Members of the House observed a minute of silence to pay their respects.
Deputy Leader of Opposition Prasanna Acharya supported the condolence motion, while Congress Legislature Party Leader Ramchandra Kadam also joined in extending homage to the leaders.
Following the adoption of the motion, Speaker Surama Padhy adjourned the House for the day, marking the conclusion of the opening session.
