Man Dies in Road Mishap While Returning with Father’s Body in Mayurbhanj
Father passes away during treatment
Bhubaneswar : A pall of gloom descended on Mituani village in Thakurmunda block of Mayurbhanj district after a man lost his life in a road accident while bringing home his father’s body for cremation. The deceased’s father, 65-year-old Gopabandhu Nayak, had been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, following severe chest pain caused by high blood pressure. He, however, passed away during treatment.
After his father’s death, Shubh Nayak was escorting the body back to their native village in an ambulance. On the way, near Madhapur, he stepped out of the vehicle to fetch water when a speeding pickup van rammed into him. The impact left him with multiple fractures in his legs and arm.
Shubh was immediately rushed to Jajpur Road Hospital and later referred to SCB Hospital as his condition deteriorated. Despite efforts, he succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital.
The family and villagers were devastated as they faced the sudden loss of both father and son within hours. Locals described the incident as an unimaginable double tragedy that has left the community in deep sorrow.
