Governor Urges OUAT to Foster Agri-Entrepreneurship

Bhubaneswar : Governor of Odisha, Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, called upon the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) to take the lead in promoting agricultural entrepreneurship among students, farmers, and rural communities.

Speaking as chief guest at OUAT’s 64th Foundation Day, the Governor stressed the preparation of detailed project profiles with cost estimates, land and power requirements, income projections, and subsidy details. Such initiatives, he said, would enable farmers and students to assess the viability of agri-business ventures and encourage enterprise development.

He lauded the role of Krishi Vigyan Kendras in training farmers and noted that several trainees had already launched industrial activities. Wider dissemination of project profiles and proper guidance, he added, would significantly boost participation in agriculture-based enterprises.

Highlighting agriculture as the backbone of India’s economy, Dr. Kambhampati urged focus on processing, value addition, marketing, exports, and adoption of advanced technologies like AI, biotechnology, and precision farming.

He commended OUAT’s recognition as a nodal center for agri-startups, mentoring 24 ventures, and aligning with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and other dignitaries also addressed the event, which concluded with student and farmer felicitations.
