CM Mohan Majhi Announced Rs.50 Lakh Grant for Grand Celebration of Sital Sasthi Yatra 2025
Financial aid from the Chief Minister’s personal fund aims to preserve Odisha’s rich cultural heritage and promote traditional festivities

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday announced a financial grant of rs.50 lakh for the grand celebration and preservation of Sital Sasthi Yatra 2025, one of the state’s most revered folk festivals that commemorates the divine marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
Sharing the announcement on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the Chief Minister stated that the grant would be provided from his personal Chief Minister’s Fund, reaffirming the government’s commitment to honour and promote Odisha’s age-old cultural traditions.
“Sital Sasthi Yatra is a unique messenger of our culture and tradition. This Rs.50 lakh grant will ensure the festival is celebrated on a grander scale while preserving its spiritual and cultural essence. In a people’s government, folk traditions will be respected, and Odia identity will shine,” Majhi wrote.
Earlier this month, the Odisha government had already approved Rs.1.8 crore for the celebration of Sital Sasthi Yatra in western Odisha, including Sambalpur city and nearby regions, which will be shared among 21 organising committees. The festival will be observed from May 31 to June 2 this year.
The state’s proactive support to cultural events marks a strong push toward reviving and sustaining Odisha’s intangible heritage.
