Major industrial investments, public infrastructure, and healthcare boost signal new growth era for the district

Bhubaneswar : In a major development push, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 13 welfare projects worth approximately Rs 275 crore in Bhadrak’s Baliapada. These include roads, health centres, sports infrastructure, a library, and a park in memory of Dr. Harekrushna Mahatab.
Nine of the projects were inaugurated, while four new ones saw foundation stone laying. The district headquarters hospital will also be upgraded to improve health services.
Majhi announced a government university and said the foundation stone for a long-awaited medical college would be laid soon. He also unveiled two mega industrial investments: IOCL’s Rs 4,377 crore Technical Textile Complex, generating over 4,300 jobs, and MCPI’s Rs 2,223 crore polyester plant, expected to employ 1,150 people.
The Chief Minister criticised the previous government’s “superficial development,” stating that real progress had begun under his leadership. He highlighted key achievements, including the Subhadra Yojana, increased paddy procurement rates, and funding for the Jagannath Temple.
Majhi reiterated the government’s commitment to build a “Samruddha Odisha” (Prosperous Odisha) by 2036 and said Bhadrak would play a key role in this journey.
The event was attended by ministers, MLAs, and senior officials, who praised the government's focused approach to inclusive growth and infrastructure development.
