Bhubaneswar: In a bid to control the spread of dengue, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced that it will observe "Dry Day" twice a week starting tomorrow. The initiative will be carried out across all wards of the city, where residents will be urged to empty flowerpots and overturn containers holding stagnant water.

BMC Mayor Sulochana Das informed that a special training session will be held today for corporators at the BMC headquarters. This year, the civic body has deployed a larger workforce to combat the disease. Around 70 staff members have been specifically assigned to spray anti-larval oil in different wards.

Starting tomorrow, BMC will also begin lifting unused tyres and will use garbage collection vehicles to spread dengue awareness. Posters at all traffic posts will display precautionary messages, and special focus will be given to the wards that reported higher cases of dengue last year.
