Patient Dies in Mayurbhanj Amid 108 Ambulance Staff Cease-Work Stir

Bhubaneswar : A critically ill patient in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district died after his family failed to arrange timely transport to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, due to an ongoing cease-work agitation by 108 Ambulance Service employees.

The deceased, identified as Kandra Singh of Saratchandrapur village under Shamakhunta block, was admitted to the district headquarters hospital in Baripada following severe health complications. Doctors referred him to SCB after his condition worsened.

Unable to secure an ambulance locally because of the strike, Singh’s family contacted a vehicle from neighbouring Balasore district. Tragically, he passed away before it arrived.

The incident has sparked outrage in the area, with locals blaming the disruption in emergency services for the loss of life.
