Eight Drivers Arrested for Assaulting Trucker During 'Quit Steering Wheel' Stir in Balangir
Victim sustained serious injuries after being attacked near Bhainsapali Toll Gate; police say investigation ongoing

Bhubaneswar : Puintala police on Friday arrested eight drivers for allegedly assaulting a truck driver during the ongoing ‘Quit Steering Wheel’ protest organized by the Odisha Driver Mahasangh in Balangir district.
The incident took place on Thursday when Manoj Bagarti, 27, of Bhaler village under Puintala police limits, was driving a truck from Saradhapali Ethanol Plant in Sonepur district to Balangir. As he approached the Bhainsapali Toll Gate, he was reportedly attacked by a group of protesting drivers.
Bagarti sustained serious injuries in the assault. Following the incident, Puintala police registered a case and launched an investigation.
“We have arrested eight drivers involved in the attack, and further investigation is underway,” said Anita Pradhan, Inspector-in-Charge of Puintala police station.
