Car Prices Slashed Across Brands After GST Cut

Bhubaneswar : Following the government’s announcement of GST rate cuts, several carmakers have reduced prices across their passenger vehicle lineups. Tata Motors was among the first to declare price cuts on Friday, with reductions of up to ₹1.45 lakh. According to reports, the Tiago is cheaper by ₹75,000, the Tigor by ₹80,000, the Altroz by ₹1.10 lakh, the Punch by ₹85,000, the Nexon by ₹1.55 lakh, the Curvv by ₹65,000, the Harrier by ₹1.40 lakh, and the Safari by ₹1.45 lakh. These cuts apply to ex-showroom prices in Delhi.

Mahindra Cuts Prices Up to ₹1.56 Lakh

Mahindra & Mahindra announced immediate price reductions of up to ₹1.56 lakh across its passenger vehicles. The Bolero is cheaper by ₹1.27 lakh, the XUV3XO petrol by ₹1.40 lakh, and the diesel variant by ₹1.56 lakh. Similarly, the Thar 2WD (diesel) now costs ₹1.35 lakh less, the Thar 4WD (diesel) ₹1.01 lakh less, and the Scorpio Classic ₹1.01 lakh less.

Toyota, Renault Join the Move

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has also slashed prices, with its Fortuner reduced by up to ₹3.49 lakh and the Legender by ₹3.34 lakh. The Hilux lifestyle pickup is down by ₹2.52 lakh, while models like the Vellfire, Camry, Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross, Glanza, and Urban Cruiser Hyryder are cheaper by amounts ranging from ₹65,400 to ₹2.78 lakh. Renault India has announced cuts up to ₹96,395, effective from September 22 deliveries, including reductions on the Kwid, Triber, and Kiger.

Maruti Suzuki May Follow Soon

India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, is also expected to announce reductions. Chairman R.C. Bhargava hinted at upcoming price cuts, with models like the Alto possibly dropping by ₹40,000–₹50,000 and the WagonR by up to ₹67,000. He estimated overall car prices could decline by around 9 percent.
