Boat Capsizes While Fishing – Two Children Dead, Mother Missing
Bhubaneswar : A tragic incident unfolded at the Rengali water reservoir in Deogarh district, where a boat capsized during a fishing trip, leading to the death of two young sons and the disappearance of their mother. The mishap occurred near the Rengali reservoir under Khairapali outpost of Kundheigola Police Station, within Khilei Panchayat of Taleisara village.
The deceased children have been identified as Ayush (5) and Riyansh (3), sons of Bulu Penthei. Their mother, Jyotsna Penthei (25), is still missing.
According to sources, late last night, while the family was returning across the river in a boat after setting up a fishing trap, fear of wild elephants caused panic. In the chaos, the boat overturned, and the mother and two sons drowned.
Rescue operations were launched early this morning, and the bodies of the two children were recovered, sending a wave of grief through the family and the village. The mother remains untraced as of now.
Police and fire services are continuing joint rescue operations in search of the missing woman.
